Timber Windows
If the frame work is timber you should expect the back putty to be removed when it’s reglazed and new putty replaced.
The inside of the frame work needs to be primed with a water based primer to prevent the new putty from cracking over time.
The result is longevity of the completed work. The finished outside edge should also be finished with putty.
The team at Mr Glass use a small planer on the outside edge of the timber to leave you with a nice smooth straight edge.
If your timber windows are rimu or stained timber we can apply coloured putty to match it.
Aluminum Windows
It is recommended that aluminum windows are kept maintained. For example if rubber is lifting out of the frame then it is advisable to have the rubber replaced. This will help stop water entering the window frame and causing damage which in the long run may cost you more money.
All Mr Glass vehicles carry a range of high quality wedge rubber to suit most aluminum windows.
Aluminum Doors and Ranchsliders
Doors/Ranch sliders should roll freely on the tracks and open and close with ease. If you notice that the door does not slide normally then you may have a broken roller. It’s advisable to attend to this problem quickly as the constant opening and closing will grind the aluminum and therefore wear away the guide that the door rolls on.
Safety Glass
Safety glass is required in certain areas for example large; full pane doors, low level glazing, balustrades, frameless showers and screens.
This is for human impact reasons and is required by law. If safety glass breaks it shatters into small harmless pieces unlike annealed glass that will break into large jagged pieces.
Double Glazing
Some of the benefits of installing double glazing into your property are to keep you warmer in winter, cooler in summer, reduce energy costs, reduce noise and to add value to your property.
Mr Glass will come and meet with you on site to assess your needs.
Your existing aluminum or timber joinery may be suitable to install double glazing directly into.
Upon inspection we will advise what is required to achieve the look you want.
